The Abode Steam Mop Range

Abode are a relative newcomer to the steam mop market having only launched their first ever product – the ASM2001 – back in 2011. Since then they have added a couple of more entries to the Abode steam mop range and are seemingly going from strength to strength with their future plans.

Although there is yet to be any traditional multi-function steam mops where a detachable had held steamer is part of the package, one of their products is a vacuum / steam mop combination and it will be interesting to see how that fares over the next few years and if they develop it further.

In addition to steam mops, Abode also run a range of cooking products such as food processors and a range of table top cooking tools such as a number of halogen ovens. From a steam mop / cleaner perspective, time will tell whether they are diversifying to much too soon.

Abode ADSM4001 Detergent Steam Mop

The Abode ADSM4001 is the market leading model within the Abode Steam Mop range and was said when being awarded the 2013 Which? Best Buy award as being : “Flixible, easy to use and brilliant at removing muddy footprints” and we’re certainly not going to argue against that. This is a detergent steam mop which means in addition to the 600ml water tank, there is a separate 150ml detergent tank to give your mopping any extra burst of powerful cleaning.

Our Verdict On the Abode Steam Mop Range

For a relatively young company, nobody can argue that Abode haven’t hit the ground running with the three great quality entries into the steam mop market that they have available. Their first product – the ASM2001 – is a pretty nifty little steam mop in it’s own right and if you’re looking for something to focus purely on what steam mops are designed for and want to give it a go a price that is well within everybodys budget, then you really can’t go too far wrong. For the very first entry in Abode steam mop range, you have to stand back and applaud.

The next step up comes in the guise of the ADSM4001 detergent steam mop. This mop can be seen as direct competitor to the more established companies who provide steam mops and, with the addition of a detergent tank, Abode seem to be stepping into the ring with Vax who have traditionally included a detergent tank with their own mops. And the verdict? The ADSM4001 is a worthy steam mop and certainly can be seen as a direct alernative to those from Abodes more established competitor.

We’ve left the ASVC4001 Vac and Steam to last in our little mini-review, despite it scoring highest in our opinion. From the looks of it, the Vac and Steam is the same as the ADSM4001 mentioned above, but with a nice addition of a vacuum bolted onto the front. True, the vacuum probably isn’t going to fully replace the vacuum you have at home already, but as a time saver, when you want to vacuum your hard floors before running the steam mop over to get at the grease and grime, having both tools in one unit is a great little idea.

All in all, Abode have come storming into the market this last few years and hopefully they’ll be around for the next few years too as it will be interesting to see what the next generation of Abode steam mop is all about.
